Over the years I have seen many Cigarette Packet Dogs and none of them have been exactly the same. The basic method of joining the strips together is the same but the design of the dogs does vary slightly from person to person. Some have longer/shorter legs, tail, neck, body and some add separate ears. This gives each dog a character of its own.

Something I have never seen before is the addition of rockers to the base of the dog. Unfortunately over time they have sagged a bit. Possibly varnishing would have prevented this happening and make it more durable when being played with.

What a brilliant idea to make them from inner tubes. They are durable, waterproof (so can go in the bath) and a great way to recycle inner tubes. Final size depends on the size of the rubber inner tube.

This is SO cool... I'm 55 and remember back in the early 1970's in Regina Sk Canada, some guy made a whole bunch of these cigarette package dogs, he wanted to sell me one but I didn't have the money. Whatever cigarette packs were black and white, that's the dog he made with them. WAY COOL to see these again! Thanks!

Hi Bluegirl, Cigarette Packet Dogs are becoming rarer and rarer and you don't often see them for sale. Occasionally they turn up on eBay so you could check there or do a web search to see if that brings up the information you require.
